Lower Antelope Canyon - Page Az.
|
AttractionsArizona is one of my favorite States in US along with Utah. I've visited the state 4 times which included 3 times to Sedona.
Red Rock galore and tons of hiking ops Been to Grand Canyon twice, once on the South Rim (crowded) and other North Rim (green and empty) Sedona is magical that is why i've been there 3 times. Great place to retire as you are next to all these great hikes and vortexes but still in civilization in a small community Don't forget Monument Valley which is on the border with Utah in Navajo country |
Doe Mountain Sedona
Hangover Trail via Munds Wagon & Cowpies in Sedona - amazing hike 14km

AdventureAntelope Canyon is world famous in books with its wind shaped eroded slot canyon. If there is a chance of rain it will be closed due to risk of flash flooding which has claim lives of tourist recently. Upper or Lower? Which ever is fine. Best photos in Lower due to how the sun light strikes. Do NOT use your flash and just use a slower shutter speed (see image on left taken with pt and shoot)
Horseshoe Bend is also a wonder near Page Az. You will see this view in thousands of magazines. It is now roped off due to it's popularity (luckily not when i went). It's where the Colorado River snakes thru. Slide Rock State Park has great natural waterslides formed right out of the rocks. The water is COLD but refreshing. One hint is to wear old swim suit or bottom as it will turn all red and get worn from the rocks. Sedona is hiking and mountain bike heaven. All hikes are fairly short (1-3 hrs a few 5hr) and payoff big. My favorite hikes include Hangover Trail via Munds Wagon, Subway Caves via Boynton Canyon, Cathedral Rock, Devils Bridge and Submarine Rock via Broken Arrow (See my rating on hikes below). Blue skies again Red rock make it a photographer's dream. A quick city hike is Soldiers Pass For mountain biking, Bell Trail is a good trail for beginners to intermediate bikers. More advance bikers go near Cathedral Rock. Experts go to Hangover Trail or High on Hogs trail Do ensure to stop off at Wildflower or Memories of Sedona for amazing and reasonably price food. The latter opens sporatically. Cafe Jose is a good place for Mexican/Home meals. For something different and good for cardio try the Echo Trail on Camelback Mountain in Scottsdale. It's insane boulder scramble with almost 1500Ft elevation gain in a short hike. Bring lots of water and wear proper shoes Scottsdale is a nice posh town with old town Scottsdale and lots of posh homes near camelback. If you had enough hiking go to grab some grub at Rehab Therapy Burger. Have the Mac & Cheese burger or Pull pork on top of the fresh 10oz patty ! if you want to look like pretty person like a local - try the Original Chopshop for some really good Protein bowls |
