Mt Jenner, Berchtesgaden
|
Things to SeeBavaria is away from hustle and bustle of big cities such as Munich and Frankfurt
Small towns along the romantic road are nice such as Rothenberg, Heidelberg but Alpine towns like Berchtesgaden are a jewel for hiking If you are history buff, go to Eagles Nest near Berchtesgarden (former headquarters of the Nazis at Obersalzburg. For a more relaxing option you can take a cruise down the Rhine from Mainz to Koblinz and you will be seeing castles to the left and right during the entire journey. Bit touristy but you can't avoid this in Europe. If you want to be super touristy stop by a beer garden and drink and be merry. |
Lake Königssee
|
Hiking and NatureAfter tough hike, relax feet in cleanest waters of Europe in Königssee lake. The colour of the lake is Emerald / Turquoise and is surrounded by Fjord like mountains. It's peaceful and quiet as no motorized boats are allowed in the lake - only electric.
Mt Jenner is a great start for hiking in the Bavarian Alp. Amazing panorama alpine views. This is part of the National Park. (click link to see my review on Tripadvisor) |
